Our Coaches

Curtis Blake

I am a former police officer who served in both the Arlington County and DC Metropolitan Police Departments. I worked in the Tactical Unit, as a Field Training Officer, and patrol over the course of 13 years with both organizations.  I’ve been coaching CrossFit full-time since 2007 and have never looked back.

Jordan Bradley

I am an elementary school teacher and have been a swim coach for many years. I swam competitively for most of my life, and through college. I love the community, camaraderie and friendships I have made at FCA. I received my Level 1 CrossFit Certification in 2014, and I also have a NASM personal training certification.

Emily Newton

Coach / Gymnastics Guru

Emily is a former level 10 gymnast who found CrossFit in 2012, after an injury forced her to retire from competitive gymnastics. After retiring from gymnastics, Emily missed the intense physical activity and thrill of competition. Fortunately, CrossFit offered the physical challenge and competitive atmosphere she had been missing!

Greg Hales

I am a certified CrossFit Level 1 Trainer; and began CrossFit in February 2011. As an athlete I played rugby in college, have completed a marathon and multiple half marathons, have competed locally in fitness competitions and recently began competing in Olympic weightlifting, having successfully qualified for and competed at the American Open Series III event in September 2017.

Lauren Ashley

I am a certified Level 1, Level 2, and CrossFit kids trainer, a student working on my Masters in Nutrition Education, and a mom of four very athletic grade school kids. I was always a competitive student athlete; but resigned myself to the globo-gym machine-based work-outs as an adult.

Dave Torpy

I’m a former police officer, retiring after 20 years of Patrol work. The last 16 years were spent as a K-9 handler and trainer. Many of my assignments required an expected level of fitness. However, nothing was as pertinent to my former career as CrossFit. After some high school sports and a list of gym memberships, I found CrossFit in 2010.

Lisa Donnelly

I have been an athlete my whole life and played Division 1 lacrosse at Virginia Tech. After college, I continued my “conditioning” at various globo gyms, not really doing much lifting at all and more running, spinning, kickboxing etc. In 2008, I was introduced to Crossfit by a few friends, joined, and have never looked back. When I first started  I couldn’t do 1 pull-up.  Then I was doing pull-ups with a 20lb vest in 2012.  After college, I went on to coach lacrosse at Ohio University and I’m really excited to have an opportunity to coach athletes again.

Michelle Thibeau

Army Veteran who got my start in functional fitness in 2008 after I stress fractured both of my hips. My physical therapist was housed in the same facility as an up and coming CrossFit/Functional Fitness community that trained semi-pro and pro athletes. They not only helped me to heal but to see the benefits of being a more well-rounded athlete. Though I have occasionally specialized in cycling and running, I have worked through CrossFit to “move all of my weaknesses to the right.”
CrossFit L2 and Certified Pregnancy & Postpartum Athleticism Certification.
My goal is to meet athletes where they are at and help them get where they are going.

Will Thibeau

Michelle, my wife, got me into CrossFit when we met. While I was in Iraq and she in Afghanistan, we’d swap WOD times while trying to best each other in the CF Open. Once my ticket to being a physically ready Army Ranger, CrossFit is now my ticket to a long, functional life where I’m ready for anything. CrossFit Level II Certificate owner. Talk to me about double unders any time.

Alan Yang

I found Crossfit in 2017 right here at Falls Church Athletics! Originally from New York,I was a high school athlete in Track and Field and was state ranked in Shotput and Javelin. I always use to just go to globo-gym but found that I was unmotivated most of the time. The community at CFA really spoke to me and re-sparked that competitiveness in me that I had in the past.
